A Years Long Process

We spent three years researching what women need when they’re on the trail, at the jobsite, deep in the backcountry, or casually strolling through town.

Our Precision Fit aims to provide the best-fitting boots for women — because your boots should feel like an extension of you.

Crafting the Perfect Fit

  • Fit Research

Bottom of a foot shape with concentric colors indicating more or less pressure on parts of the foot; there is less pressure toward the outside of the foot, moderate pressure on the ball, and greatest pressure in the heel.

We used biometric foot data from over 40,000 women and conducted 4 internal fit tests where we paired anecdotal feedback with data from our Aetrex 3D scanner and pressure mapping tool.

We synthesized our research to identify key fit problems with women’s boots.

  • Heel Capture

The heel shape in women’s boots is often too wide, causing friction and blisters.

Our Precision Fit last solves this problem by narrowing and re-shaping the heel.

  • Toe Box Width

The toe box in women’s footwear is often too narrow, which can cause discomfort or injury.

We used our research findings to widen the forefoot in precise spots.

  • Last Manufacturing

Metal shelves filled with white plastic lasts used for manufacturing boots.

We partnered with renowned global last manufacturers to translate our research findings into our new Precision Fit lasts.

Last (noun): a foot-shaped mold used during footwear manufacturing. It determines the fit of the final product.

  • The Outcome

Two views of a 3D last; the first in profile illustrating a lower height increase from toes to ankle, the second a top down view showing narrower heel width and wider forefoot.

Compared to our standard fit, our new Precision Fit lasts have a narrower heel capture, wider width in the forefoot, and a lower height increase from toes to ankle to accommodate the biometrics of women’s foot shapes.

A woman bends down on a dirt trail to tie a brown leather boot with teal colored textile inlays, her pants and socks are white and her fleece top matches the teal of the boot.
“These are very comfortable right off the bat. I have high arches and these have good support. My heel is super locked-in, there’s not any extra space in the width. I am not getting any heel slip or pinching. The room in the toe box in length and room above my toes is perfect. I can wiggle my toes nicely. These feel much better then the original. ”
